F A Q

What to Bring/Wear?

  • Water

  • Journal/Paper/Pen + Pencil. Some sort of writing material.

  • Comfy clothes you can easily move in (think yoga, lounge, think comfy and free!)

  • Any talisman, books, words - that are inspiring you and bringing you support during this time.

Do i need dance experience or experience within somatics?

No, just an openness to explore with your body, heart, and spirit. If you feel the pull, you already know what’s up ;)

What is the general flow for an inquiry?

I will guide us in a sensory exploration, elemental mediation, partner work exploring the elemental dance inside of you (practice in witnessing and sharing) - then a break to journal, nourish yourself with sustenance, water - circle back up as a group to share where you are now, anything that came up in partner work. Then I guide is in a subconscious writing exercise called Word Map. The theme and topic changes each inquiry, so the word map will shift as well. Each person chooses a word from their Word Map that they want to integrate, understand more, or bring closer to their cells. These words are expressed by each person, in their body, in circle, as an alchemical seal.

What type of experience is this?

This is a community based process - being witnessed in our being-ness is an essential ingredient. Being with the elements - acknowledge them as a part of us is a key ingredient. And words - language, how it shapes, informs, and relates to us is a key ingredient. I will be guiding you to explore your body through a somatic lens. What does this mean? It means, sensing what is going on inside, in your internal landscape. And expressing it outwardly through any of the senses. We use words as a gateway, a portal into our body’s intelligence and the intelligence of our spirit/consciousness. What we create, is a meeting place between these two (body system + spirit/consciousness) so that deeper relationship, understanding, compassion, and integration can unravel. The effects of this practice can be healing, but that is not the goal. The intention, is to open up to our curiosity, open up to our body, open up to ourselves, open up to the elements - and in being with these spaces, we open up a pathway for us receive, feel, and be.

can you simplify what you just said?

Sure! WAM is kin to embodied talk therapy seeped in a ritual, community oriented space. If you are curious, please give yourself the pleasure to join us. Your curiosity is a gift to this world, let it guide you.

Consideration before our time together

I invite you to tune into words that are around you. Internal and external. Sense how indigenous, naturalized, and/or creation might be sharing with you. Make note of this word or words - a feeling - and bring it with you.

Looking forward to discovering with you all,

Kendra
